Apprenticeships
PE & School Sport

Looking for a stepping stone into the world of coaching sport to young people? If so, then the PE & School Sport Apprenticeship could be the pathway for you.

The programme offers apprentices and existing employees a foundation to develop skills in activity leadership and sports coaching for young people.

Practical Training

We strongly believe in motivating you to reach your full potential and preparing you for life as a professional. As a result, we fully endorse industry based learning.

90% of apprentices stay in employment after finishing their apprenticeship

During the programme you will be expected to work a minimum of  4 days per week (30 hours) and focus on your studies for the equivalent of 1 day per week.

The programme offers both Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships, and has been specifically designed for individuals who want to learn and earn within a school sports setting.

Pathways

Our programmes act as a foundation for you to further your career plans.

Before the end of the programme, you will be able to deliver sporting activities and coaching to a high quality standard. The programme will increase your confidence, expand your knowledge and enhance your teaching skills.

With this programme on your CV, nothing is impossible.

Many of our former students have developed within their existing workplace or go on to find work in other schools, whilst others choose to apply for further apprenticeships.

If you didn’t already, by the time you are finished, you will have the desire to grab every opportunity available to you.

Timetable

To be highly regarded in any industry you have to work hard. Be it their approach to coaching or theoretical study, all applicants who enter the programme must be prepared to work hard.

Put in the hours and the rewards will come.

A typical apprentice can expect to spend anything between 30-36 hours a week studying, training, and developing his or her work experience. There are no half measures or shortcuts to success.

Opportunities

Throughout the programme, apprentices will be challenged both in their teaching and coaching and through studying a variety of theory units. These units will provide the essential groundwork to establish yourself in the workplace.

One-to-one support will be available from the work-based mentor throughout the apprenticeship and you will work alongside an established member of staff.  You will continue to develop in your institution day-by-day eventually moving onto planning, leading and reviewing projects, whilst being mentored and observed.

Training is designed to develop the apprentice’s interaction skills with others and give them the knowledge and understanding of everything that is required to become a valued support coach or teacher.

The apprentice is seen as a valuable employee, so will be expected to work and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
