This Apprenticeship is designed to provide a vocational pathway into the planning, reviewing and delivering of projects within the sports development community.
Training is designed to develop the apprentice’s interaction skills with others and give the knowledge and understanding of everything that is required within a sports development role.
Designed to provide a greater understanding of sports development roles and the environment in which a sports development officer operates, this apprenticeship provides experience in sports development, marketing, health and safety, management and coaching.
As an Apprentice in Sports Development, you can expect to be employed for 30 hours a week in a setting that will typically give you the opportunity to support community sports, improve access to sport for young people, people with disabilities, and people from disadvantaged groups. This could be with a professional sports club, a coaching company, or even a Primary/Secondary school.
You will need a passion for sport and working with local community groups, as well as the desire to work hard to achieve.
As a Level 3 Advanced apprentice you will be expected to be responsible for various projects, such as organising sporting events and training courses for different sections of the local community.
Many Level 3 Sports Development apprentices take responsibility for managing resources, identifying funding opportunities, motoring projects, as well as finding, training and managing suitable staff for appropriate community projects.
On top of the 30 hours of work, you will need to spend a minimum of 6 hours on your studies. This will ensure that you keep up to date with everything, and provide the evidence required to achieve the Apprenticeship.
All learning and assessment resources are provided on The Sports Brain, and will be supported by an on-site professional mentor, who will be able to give you advice and guidance on completing your work as well as future career prospects.
You will also be assigned an assessor, who will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress.
