VLUK flying the flag for the UK

VLUK are sending a team of their most promising footballers to Shanghai to represent the UK in the China (Shanghai) International Youth Football Invitational.

Hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Municipal Sports Bureau, Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Shanghai Overseas Chinese Foundation and China School Sports Federation, the China (Shanghai) International Youth Football Invitational 2017 will be held from 8th July to 14th July. The opening ceremony of this year’s Invitational will be held on 8th July while the final match and closing ceremony will be held on 14th July.

Since its introduction in 2015, 28 youth football teams from 12 countries have participated in the Invitational to build upon and showcase skills and techniques along with education through football competitions with a noted presence of ever stronger teams being invited to participate year on year.

This year, 16 men’s U17 football teams from 10 countries and regions, comprising a total of well over 400 people, will shortly be arriving in the city of Shanghai. The first stage of the Invitational will take the form of a single round-robin in groups while the second stage of the Invitational will take the form of single-match knockout in crossed pairing in order to determine the 1st – 8th rankings with VLUK’s first game taking place Sunday 9th July against Yuet Wah College, China.
