Students hard work pays off

VLUK students, Elliott Brown and Caius Gordon, have been rewarded for their hard work both in and out of the classroom, with an impressive 5-night professional football training course based at the home of Manchester City FC. The course, run by British Study Centres, is an initiative for players who are committed to improving their individual game in a  professional environment.
Elliott Brown, who studies with The Football College, was nominated by 2 of VLUK’s Curriculum Leaders, Craig Sumner and Ian Coldwell, along with being approved by his tutor, Lance Jones. Craig said “Elliott has been a remarkable student this year having 96+% attendance and is on track to gain at or above his target grade. He is a consistent performer both in and out of the classroom showing an excellent work rate in both study and training”. Whilst Ian added “He also exhibits great leadership skills on the pitch, whilst showcasing a professional attitude throughout the season so far, holding down a starting berth in the team that went all the way to the last 16 of the ECFA national cup”.
Caius Gordon, who studies with Dean Walling Academy, was nominated by his club. Caius’ tutor chose him because “He is a really good, dedicated learner that fully applies himself to both the academic and footballing aspects of his current qualification. He always demonstrates exceptional attitude to his studies and is always showing a desire and eagerness to achieve the higher criteria in each of the assignments that he completes”. He added “Overall, I think that Caius is fully deserving of this opportunity and one that would be a great reward for the hard work that he has put into all aspects of his study programme this academic year”.
The 5-day course includes 30 hours of training and workshops with City Football Schools coaches along with personal evaluation and an individual development plan for each student. Each student will learn about professional
football with City Football specialists as well as individual testing of speed, endurance and agility. The course will conclude with a tour and closing ceremony at the Etihad Stadium hospitality suites when both students parents will also attend.
