Teddy Ralph, captain at Dorking Wanderers Football Academy, has recently signed a contract to play for their first team after making a great impression in the first cup game. Teddy, who comes from Brentford, has played amateur youth team football for the last five years. Teddy originally trialed with the club in October 2016, where he impressed and demonstrated raw talent and very good physical attributes such as explosive power, speed and strength.
Dorking Wanderers Football Academy became a VLUK partner in September running a BTEC study programme for 16-18 year olds. Over the first three months of our programme, along with pre-season, Teddy has gone from strength to strength and rather quietly in the eyes of other students. Due to the strong links with the first team manager, Marc, who regularly attends home and away games, Teddy’s potential was spotted and between the academy manager and Marc they closely monitored him across a period of games.
Thanks to the strong relationship between club and academy programme, Teddy has now realised one of his dreams to play football at a higher level and in the future he hopes to use his strong enthusiasm for performance analysis to pursue a post course career in this area. Teddy’s great work ethic and desire to improve has taken him to the very top of the club which is also influencing others to enhance their own game in the same way.
