Coaching Skills

Posted on

Both Year 12 and 13 BTEC learners have recently been focusing on their coaching units. Year 12 have been looking at the responsibilities of a coach for 'Developing Coaching Skills' and Year 13's have been profiling the learners they will be teaching for 'Applied Coaching Skills.' Many of our learners have had the opportunity to apply this into practice this week with many learners leading and assisting sports coaching sessions within Primary Schools.

In addition, learners have also had the opportunity to apply theory to practice in their enrichment sessions. This week learners were taught how to deliver an effective warm up in primary schools within their practical lessons. Learners were also taught how to structure a session to ensure their participants are making progress. Furthermore, learners have also had the opportunity to apply their knowledge learnt from Fitness Training which was covered last year for Year 13's (and will be covered next year for Year 12's). Learners took part in strength and conditioning sessions at Wildboar Weightlighting which has allowed them to understand how training programmes are developed.
