Hard Work from Mia Posted on 13 January 2026 Mia joined our Pontefract Collieries campus as the only female learner, a challenge she embraced with confidence and determination - a clear reflection of her strong mindset and desire to develop. Within just a few weeks of starting on the programme, her exceptional application, maturity and the consistently high quality of her work stood out and she has gone from strength to strength. She has achieved Distinction-level work in every assignment so far, maintains perfect attendance in her GCSE lessons and regularly receives outstanding feedback for her focus, work ethic and attitude to learning. Her transition into the programme has been seamless and she has quickly become a learner to be proud of. Alongside her academic success, Mia has also made a significant impact on the pitch. She has competed this season as part of our Sheffield Flexi League squad, who currently sit top of the table, delivering excellent performances from full-back. Her progress has been recognised with a call-up to the Ladies First Team, clearly demonstrating the progression opportunities available for female learners within the programme. Beyond her studies and football, Mia has shown impressive initiative by pursuing her passion for photography. Through volunteering her time with our Scholarship and Junior teams, she has begun building a professional portfolio by capturing matchday photography. This experience is already laying the foundations for future income opportunities alongside her education and sporting commitments. Mia’s journey is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through resilience, hard work and ambition. The Pontefract tutor said "We are incredibly proud to highlight the outstanding progress of Mia, a learner whose resilience, commitment and ambition have made a lasting impression this year. Well done, Mia - keep up the amazing work".
