Nutrition and Longevity Posted on 23 May 2025 D2 Academy proudly hosted Natalie Pullen from EmpowHer this week, delivering a dynamic and insightful workshop focused on dancer wellbeing and performance sustainability. Natalie, a leading female physiotherapist with extensive experience in the field, worked closely with learners to equip them with essential tools to support both their physical and mental health. The workshop, the first of its kind at D2 Academy, was carefully tailored to meet the specific needs of aspiring young performers. Natalie guided learners through key topics such as nutrition, managing fatigue during intense training periods, and the importance of strength and conditioning. She also provided practical, hands-on training programmes designed to help learners better understand how to care for their bodies, minimise injury risk, and ultimately prolong their careers in the performance industry. At the heart of the session was a strong focus on self-care and injury prevention - critical elements for anyone pursuing a future in the performing arts industry. D2 Academy’s commitment to holistic performer development is clear: by bringing in industry professionals like Natalie, the Academy ensures its learners are not only skilled in their discipline but are also equipped to thrive in the demanding world of the industry. D2 tutor, Amie, said "We want our learners to develop a deep understanding of how to look after themselves - physically and mentally. Workshops like this are vital for preparing them for long-term success in their careers." D2 plans to continue offering specialist sessions like this to further enrich the learner experience and bridge the gap between education and real-world performance demands.
