Our Wealdstone learners recently took part in an exceptional professional development opportunity at the Under Armour Performance Hub at Battersea Power Station, experiencing first-hand what elite-level football fitness testing looks like in a real-world performance environment.
During the session, learners completed a range of high-level physical performance tests, with data collected and analysed using industry-standard methods. For some participants, performance data will also be reviewed for inclusion on Under Armour’s sponsorship register, offering valuable exposure to pathways within elite sport.
This experience provided powerful curriculum links across year groups including Year 12 learners gaining practical insight into careers in Sport and Active Leisure, exploring professional pathways and athlete sponsorship, whilst the Year 13s strengthened their understanding of observing applied data collection in a professional setting as well as insight into applied Coaching Skills, through exposure to elite testing protocols and athlete assessment environments.
Beyond the technical learning, learners demonstrated excellent professionalism, punctuality and conduct throughout the visit, reflecting positively on themselves and the programme. Experiences like this play a vital role in bridging academic study with the realities of the sports industry, helping learners build confidence, aspiration and employability skills.
