Women's Cup Final

On Weds 14th June, Oxford City FC were hosted by Northampton Town F.C on a sunny afternoon in Moulton, Northants. This fixture is an annual event, and has been contested for the past three years, and up for grabs was the VLUK Women's Cup. It was clear to see that both teams were up for the occasion as both coaching teams put their sides through well orchestrated and technical warm ups. At kick off, both teams came to life, with some early chances for both sides. However, it was Northampton that made the breakthrough and followed it up with 2 further goals, to go in at half time 3 to the good. Halftime bought a much needed refreshment break due to the hot conditions. Both sides started the second half raring to go and Northampton managed to add to their goals tally and continued their dominance for the rest of the half to finish at full time with a 6-0 victory. This win meant that Northampton retained the VLUK Women's Cup. Following the medal ceremony, both teams showed their solidarity in promoting Pride, a month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+, this campaign has also been promoted across the VLUK network. Overall it was clear to see the development of these dedicated athletes and credit for this must go to the respective coaching teams who have no doubt worked hard throughout the season to get them playing at this high standard.

Well done to both teams on their commitment and enthusiasm.
