Dorking Wanderers Academy

Our academy is designed to aid and support those players wishing to continue pursuing a career in sport, with a programme of structured training and developmental sessions, underpinned by our belief in the growth mindset.

In addition to the outstanding classroom education, our programme is unrivalled in its work-based learning experiences that prepare learners for the workplace and university.

Alongside their football playing curriculum, all learners complete work placements with our academy, running two physical education programmes at local primary schools.

In year one, learners are given the opportunity to complete the FA Level one in coaching. This extracurricular course informs learners of the technical demands of the coach, whilst training them in safeguarding and administering first aid.

Our close working relationship with the Surrey FA has opened up numerous working opportunities for our learners, such as playing on UEFA B courses and organising charitable sporting events. This has allowed them to gain valuable experience of working with a variety of different members of the local community.

Ultimately, this helps our students to better understand the demands and requirements of adult football, their chosen workplace or university.

All players offered the opportunity to join our Academy do so knowing that the programme they sign up to has been specifically designed to blend football and education in a way to aid their progression to the next level.
